PART-TIME ASSISTANT MECHANIC/TECHNICIAN

$15.00/hour

19.5 hrs/week Oct-May; 40 hrs/week May-Sep

We’re looking to hire a part-time Assistant Mechanic/Technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment including: fire trucks, ambulances, generators, portable pumps, SCBAs, fire pumps, chase vehicles, command vehicles, air compressors, all mechanical equipment, etc.

  • One year specialized training in automotive drivability/light & heavy equipment; or any equivalent combination of experience & training
  • Position open until filled

 

EMTs/PARAMEDICS & FIREFIGHTERS (PAID CALL & PART-TIME PAID CALL--not full time)

Applications for EMTs, Paramedics and Firefighters can be submitted at any time, and they will be held until we do hiring to fill emergency responder needs. All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted.

Specific requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass required physical fitness tests
  • Must live within a 15-minute drive time of one of our stations (Rexburg, Archer or Sugar City)

FUELS REDUCTIONS CREW MEMBERS & SUPERVISOR (seasonal "summer")

The fuels reduction crew clears brush and trees to reduce fire risk. The normal work schedule is 40 hours/week, Monday through Thursday from May to August, but there will also be opportunities for wildland deployments.

Applications for seasonal "summer" work can be submitted at any time for consideration for the current or next summer season. All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted.

Specific requirements for CREW MEMBERS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must already have NWCG FFT2 wildland fire certification
  • Must be able to pass the Arduous Work Capacity Test
  • Must be able to use chainsaws

 

Specific requirements for CREW SUPERVISOR:

  • Supervise crew members in performing fuels reduction work
  • Must have three years of wildfire suppression experience
  • Must already have NWCG FFT1 and FAL2 wildland fire certifications
  • Must be able to pass the Arduous Work Capacity Test
  • Must be able to use chainsaws
