2012 Wildland Fire Season

The fire season of 2012 was unprecedented not only in Idaho but throughout the country. Members of the Madison Fire Department that have been specifically trained to combat wildland fires had the opportunity to be deployed to help local resources fight those fires. In addition to wildland fire fighting, trained medics staffed ambulances and our own mobile clinic, were located at fires throughout the region, providing medical support to line firefighters and base camp staff.

In June, three members of the department traveled to Colorado. Throughout July, members were able to assist in Wyoming and Utah. Early in August two major fires broke out in Idaho in Salmon and Stanley and many members have been able to travel to both fires continually to aid in suppression efforts.

Below are some photos from several of these wildland fires.
